Agrupamento de

Escolas de Silves

Portugal

1024px-Flag_of_Portugal.svg.png

The Silves School Group has four Kindergartens and six 1st cycle schools, with 161 students in the Pre-School and 655 in the 1st cycle of elementary education (from 1st to 4th grade). We thus have a broad target group of students and teachers who can serve the purpose of the project
In addition, we have a wide experience in teaching in kindergarten and in the 1st cycle of basic education, since our Schools already have several tens of years of activity and with a teaching with vertical and horizontal curricular articulation.
On the other hand, we have a stable and experienced teaching staff and a group of higher level teachers who teach the area of Mathematics, and some with specializations in teaching in this area. We also have a large group of professors in the area of information and communication technologies (ICT) who teach students of
the regular curriculum, but also students of professional courses in the field of ICT.
On the other
hand, we are particularly interested in teaching in a project area perspective, because the Portuguese Ministry of Education intends to implement in the next school year the flexibility of the curriculum and the integration of areas that already existed in the curriculum, such as the Project Area. These aims are to promote an integrated knowledge culture based on project work, in which each discipline contributes to class projects. However, the practice in kindergarten and in the 1st cycle already contemplates in Portugal a globalizing teaching promoted only by a teacher of the class.
A few years ago our Schools were involved in this type of practice, but by guidance from a past government, the project was not continued, and there is now the intention of the current government to return to such practices and philosophy of teaching based on the practice of the
day-a-day and linked to the historical and transdisciplinary context.
In this way, the goals of the project interest us:
- Learning English asForeign language
- Cultural and historical knowledge for the development of Europe;
- Knowledge of basic economic skills suitable for young children and adapted to the specifics of their age;
- Skills and
competencies
For all these reasons we consider that we have a wide experience that can be valid and important for the development of this project, being that we can learn immensely with it and offer our students new experiences.
Finally, we have 4 school libraries that have a wide experience in the development of activities that promote reading and writing, through the stories, through sessions with authors of books, research activities accompanied at all levels and other types of activities.
to apply it and tested it with the students. The purpose of the project was to develop student learning through the use of interactive games, the same purpose of the project now being submitted, and in the same target group orientations /training: Serious Games for Fostering Multilingualism in Early Childhood Education: Erasmus+ 2015-1-RO01-KA201-015212), and this experience is worth more for the implementation of the project under analysis. In the scope of the project described, the teachers developed the activity manual and the game, had language Games, our kindergarten students and the first two years of the first cycle have been involved in a second language learning project in parallel with mother tongue learning, using software with activities developed by the partners of the project and tested and deepened with the students and teachers of our institution. This experience has greatly enriched our teachers and promoted very relevant learnings in the students (LyearsIn the last two
